Why would I use MyPartyGenie if I already have accounts with other social networking sites? Wow, good question! Simply put, MyPartyGenie is a lot more fun and practical than most other sites. Give it a spin and see if you agree. Other social networking sites are wonderful places to maintain friendships. MyPartyGenie is a wonderful place to make new friendships. How do I make friends on MyPartyGenie? Making friends—or Party Mates as they’re called on the website—is simple and fun. Whenever you’d like to add someone to your list of Party Mates just go to their profile page and click “Be My Party Mate”. While using the site you’ll be able to see who shares the same tastes in nightlife venues, music and many other quintessential evening preferences. You’ll be able to see who’s signed up to party where, and you’ll see who’s partying in each city or town. This will give you loads of information to help you decide who you should be friends with on the site.
How can I create, contribute to, or edit the party Wiki for any country or city? Your MyPartyGenie homepage is the wiki nightlife description of your current location. If a wiki description has not yet been added for your city please be the first to do so by clicking “Add/Edit wiki description”. If a description has already been contributed, feel free to update, augment or otherwise improve it by clicking the same link. The same goes for photos that will appear on the wiki page. To upload a photo just hit “Add/Edit Wiki Photo”.
How can I exchange short tips with other users about nightlife and fun in a country or city? From any country or city party wiki page just click “Tips for going out in [country/city]”. This is located just to the right of the country or city wiki photo.
How can I change my status between Visible and Invisible? On the top of your screen you will see "Your Status is Visible". If you click that icon your status will become invisible. Clicking it again will make you visible. Beneath each profile is either a green or red icon. Green indicates a member is visible and online. Red indicates invisible and/or offline. You can also control this from your Chat function at the bottom of the page. In both cases, please click "Refresh" after you change your status.
Your Profile Page
How do I find people with similar tastes in music, movies, drinks, and those looking for the same party priorities as me? From your profile page simply click the hyperlinks in your profile description of the above categories and you will see who shares your interests and tastes.
What does my Party Status mean and how do I update it? On your profile page, just to the right of your photo, you can update you party status. Your status is viewable to those who visit your profile. It also shows on the news feed of your Party Mates. It lets you tell the world, or selected users, what's on your mind.
Nightlife Venue Pages
How can I add and/or review nightlife venues? Yes, be sure to get your favorite bars, clubs, cafes, lounges, restaurants and live music joints recognized on the site. And if there are places to avoid, post them as well. From the homepage click “Write Reviews” from the top menu bar, or click “Add/Review Venue” from the Party Wiki data box. Or from the actual venue page, click “Write a Review”. Please search for a place to make sure that no one else has added the venue with an incorrect spelling in order to avoid duplication. At MyPartyGenie we don’t leave anything to chance
Is it possible to delete or edit venue reviews once you submit them? Of course, just go to “My Reviews” and on the left-hand banner click edit or delete for that specific venue.
How can I announce an event, offering, party or anything else about a nightlife venue? From the respective venue page simply click “Share [venue name] Event”. The announcement will be viewable by people in the respective city, and those who have identified that venue among their favorite Party Spots. From a city wiki page it is also possible to announce events by clicking “Share Events in [city name]”.
Can I Delete or Edit my event announcements? To edit or delete an announcement go to your homepage. On the top of the News Feed section click “Manage My Announcements”.
What is the My Events/Parties function? Looking to organize a big bash in your town or at your home, or anywhere else? Housewarming parties, poker nights, bachelor parties, you name it. Just click My Events/Parties on the left-hand banner and start inviting your Party Mates. Track the responses easily through the RSVP function.
There is a section on the venue page called, for instance, “Fans of O’Riely’s Bar”. How do I get on this list? To be recognized as a fan of any venue simply give it a rating of 8 Genies or higher, or add the place to your Party Spots.
My Party Spots
What are My Party Spots? When visiting a venue page you’ll have the option to “Add this venue to My Party Spots”. Doing so allows you to collect your favorite places to party in one folder. This ensures that your News Feed will update you about events and attractions at those places. It will also enable you to see who else enjoys and/or frequents the same places, and visa-versa.
Party Calendar
What is the MyPartyGenie Calendar for? Interested in getting a strategic advanced peek at who will be out, and where, this weekend? This unique feature allows you to share your party plans with your Party Mates and, depending on your privacy settings, with the world. Just go to My Calendar and enter your party plans. Or from nightlife venue pages you’ll be able to submit your party itinerary by clicking “Add O’Riely’s Bar to your Party Calendar”. Then on venue pages of respective bars or clubs you’ll be able to see who will be where. Control all privacy settings from your profile page.
Ask the Genie
I have the option to “Ask” the Genie. What does clicking the Genie Lamp do? Genies are known for their powers to grant wishes. Usually wishes come in three’s, but Party Genies are slightly lazier than your run-of-the-mill genie, ya know, considering all the drinking and late nights. The Party Genie can offer two wishes to help you identify 1) Where to party, and 2) Who to party with. Give it a shot, it’s a fun way of meeting new people and finding out where to party in your hometown or while on the road. Note that after the genie offers you choices you can further narrow down your search fields.
Genie Wishes
What is a Genie Wish? Many social networking sites offer easy ways—pokes, smiles, winks, etc—to let someone know you’re thinking about them. Genie Wishes are similar, but a little better. Better because if you’d like, you can personalize the wish with up to 100 characters of text. Give it a shot.
Photos & Videos
How do I upload, view and delete photos? Throughout the site there are many places to upload photos about party cities, nightlife venues or anything else. You can manage and delete your profile photos by clicking “My Photos/Videos” on the left-hand banner. For venue photo management click “My Reviews” from the left-hand banner. To upload a single profile photo just click “Add More Photos”, or upload multiple photos at the same time by using the Aurigma Multiple Uploader (from that page you may need to download this software to your computer).
How do I upload, view and delete videos? On the left side banner click My Photos/Videos and click the “My Videos” tag on the next page. From here you can manage or delete your party videos.
Party Groups
What are Party Groups for? Party Groups can be launched around specific activities, events, parties or anything under the sun that’s fun! Groups are for people who share a common interest, whether it’s Happy hour partying on Tuesday afternoons or attending bullfights on weekends. To create a Party Group simply go to My Groups on the left-hand banner or do this directly from a nightlife venue page. Groups can also help to strategically unite yet unassociated groups, like bachelor and bachelorette parties, for a truly wild night.
Very Important Partier (VIP) status
What does VIP status mean? The most active members of MyPartyGenie are rewarded in many interesting ways. These rewards are granted as one makes their way up the Very Important Partier (VIP) status ladder. There are 3 statuses: Standard, Silver and Gold.
How do I become a VIP? Users that have just registered have a Standard VIP status. By actively using MyPartyGenie—for example by writing reviews, sending messages and sharing MyPartyGenie with your friends— you progress towards becoming a Silver and eventually a Gold VIP member. Silver members have a silver frame around their profile photo. For Gold members the frame is gold. By clicking on your VIP status from your profile page you will be able to see the progress you are making. You will also be able to see a list of incentives we offer for various VIP members.
What are the incentives to improve your VIP Status? There are many advantages for becoming a Silver or Gold VIP member. For example, VIP members are prioritized in search functions making them easier to find; they receive invitations to international MyPartyGenie annual parties and events; they have the ability to upload unlimited numbers of photos and videos. The full list of incentives can be viewed from your profile page.
Can I lose my VIP status? Yes, if inappropriate content is detected on your profile page or in your photos, videos, wikis, reviews and your communications with other members. Please refer to Terms of Service to find out what is constitutes inappropriate content.
Party Blogs
What are Party Blogs? Blogs are basically journals authored by one MyPartyGenie member or a group of members. Blogs on our site center on nightlife and having fun!
Managing your Account
How do I change my login password? From your profile page click “Account” and from there it’s as easy as apple pie.
How do I change my Privacy Settings? MyPartyGenie offers users a wide range of privacy settings. You can control who gets to see various types of information about your profile. From the Profile page go to “Profile and Privacy Settings” and easily manage everything from there.
