You know you've made the right friends in Atlanta, if, upon moving there, you're taken to this Virginia-Highlands standby that's been pushing pitcher after dangerously low-priced pitcher of PBR since 1947. Though it's somewhat annoyingly popular with students from nearby Emory University, who fight it out for booths on weeknights for room to devour MoJo Fries (a heaping pile of steak fries smothered in cheese, bacon, jalapeƱos, and all the ranch dressing your failing heart desires), Moe's and Joe's is also the kind of place that values its many loyal regulars. If one of them happens to stumble out without paying enough, then one of the upstanding waiters will just tactfully straighten it all out the following week.
In this trend-focused city, Moe's and Joe's -- with its graffiti-covered walls and veteran waitstaff -- offers something more than just cheap beer and one of Atlanta's best bar snacks: perspective. Posted on: April 12, 2011 |
