San Francisco means "Saint Francis" in Spanish, where the name derives from. It's saintly, no doubt. It's the best party city on the west coast. That's according to me, and I'm just being honest. There are also millions of venues for live music around the city, and they often cater to the under-21 crowd.
Downtown San Francisco is littered with many 18-and-over clubs, and many concert venues, such as the Fillmore. Don't worry about not having a good time in the darkness of the city. Lots of restaurants stay open late into the next morning, and a student can always find a dive bar to call home. A popular side job for 21-and-up students is a go-go dancer or promo girl, which may involve dancing on stage or handing out trial alcohol at clubs.
